Jill has received specialized training in Orff and Kodaly. These were two composers of the 20th century who took an interest in how children learn music. The philosophy of Orff is to involve children in music as a form of play through singing, moving, playing child-friendly instruments, dancing, and games. As Orff employs the use of folk songs, so does Kodaly but with a strong emphasis on the songs of one’s own country as a genesis. Furthermore, the Kodaly method helps children develop their ears and eyes with songs when solfege and rhythmic mnemonics are applied.
